OUR STORY
Student-Operated Social Enterprise
In accordance with our Holy Cross values, we donate our profits to local organizations that work to increase access to fresh healthy food for those in need.

As a leader in innovative education, St. Edward embraces interdisciplinary and experiential learning. Students who are involved in caring for the chickens and selling the eggs learn valuable real world and problem solving skills that complement their classroom learning.

The coop is part of an effort to educate students about sustainable food systems that started with the creation of a school garden in August of 2020. It aims to:

1) promote authentic, interdisciplinary, problem based learning;

2) cultivate students' eco-literacy -- a mindset focused on protecting and regenerating nature;

3) contribute to food security by donating our produce and profits to local organizations that work for fair food access for all;

4) increase better physical and mental health outcomes for students.
